Fuelled by government and business initiatives, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) is becoming a hub for innovation and economic growth. A key factor in its success lies in transforming research findings into applications that bring real-world benefits through collaboration between industry and academia. Recognized as an international university committed to research excellence, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is contributing to this transformation process through advanced technologies developed by great minds from around the world. This project is an international competition for an educational campus situated in the Song Shan Lake District of Dongguan.
The design is a site-specific solution tailored for its natural context, which translates the concept of knowledge into a spatial layout beyond functional planning. The site offers the opportunities to weave nature in the built intervention, offering a unique living and academic environment. The built form and layout stimulate interaction, curiosity, and collaboration within the campus community and demonstrate a sustainable environment for learning.
